I was contracted to do a complete overhaul of the client’s existing website. They had been producing their product for a couple of years before they decided it was time to get off the island and expand into national shipping.
THE ISSUES:
The site had never-ending pages full of Hawaiian history, images, and stories that were just sure to keep the reader dozing off. The problem was, the client wanted all of it on the new site. Just all redesigned. They made sure I knew, that they knew, that everyone else knew that’s a very easy task to do and undoubtedly I will have no problems.
THE EXECUTION:
With my widdling knife in hand and my red Staples easy button on cue, I began breaking apart each chunk of content word by word, and over a couple of weeks, I was able to sway the client along the way to drop content where I suggested.
Once the content of each page was primed, I fired up XD and began conducting page layouts. Meeting with the client and project manager once a week to review progress, I was able to secure every page’s structure and flow, giving the green light to begin design.
So I invited Photoshop over to the party! In the midst of XD holding Photoshops legs to do keg stands, I nailed down an effective user flow and use of the branding that was still in development, but then started becoming the look & feel of things.
THE RESULT:
I completed building the site in WordPress and made it available for select members to review. I knew the CEO was constantly on the go and in meetings with investors. What I didn’t know is that not long after the site was online, a deal was secured with a top beverage company and they soon took the reins. I was a little reluctant not to be able to lead the launch. But, I was hailed for the site's success and it still retains some of my original touches today.
